GS Yuasa Swindon
The opportunity
GS Yuasa wanted to establish a fresh headquarters that would bring together contemporary, practical workspaces with the company’s established culture and Japanese heritage.
The new workplace needed to support a more dynamic way of working, encouraging collaboration and social interaction between warehouse and office employees. At the same time, the environment needed to reflect GS Yuasa’s values, with employee wellbeing and environmental responsibility at the heart of the design.
The opportunity was to create a workplace that connected people across different areas of the business while providing a modern environment that respected the company’s heritage and supported its future ambitions.
The approach
Kerr Office Group worked collaboratively with GS Yuasa to understand its requirements, preferences and wider vision for the new headquarters.
The design combined contemporary workplace principles with subtle references to the company’s Japanese heritage and established culture. Practical and flexible workspaces were created to support different activities while encouraging greater interaction between office and warehouse employees.
Employee wellbeing was also a key consideration throughout the design. The workspace was developed to provide a more comfortable and engaging environment, helping employees feel connected to the organisation and empowered in their day-to-day work.
Sustainability was incorporated into the design alongside the focus on people, creating an environment that reflects GS Yuasa’s responsibility towards both its workforce and the wider environment.
The impact
The completed headquarters provides GS Yuasa with a modern and functional workplace that brings its people and values together.
The new environment has created stronger opportunities for collaboration and social engagement while providing employees with a workspace that is both practical and visually considered.
The project has also strengthened the connection between GS Yuasa’s heritage and its future, combining contemporary workplace design with elements that reflect the company’s culture and Japanese identity.
The positive response from customers and visitors has reinforced the success of the transformation. Anthony Mazzotta, Finance & Operations Manager at GS Yuasa, praised the collaborative design process, quality of workmanship and the finished workspace, describing it as both “aesthetically pleasing” and “highly functional.”
