Bechtle UK Wiltshire

The opportunity

Following Kerr Office Group’s successful work with Bechtle in Manchester in 2019, Bechtle approached Kerr to create a new headquarters in Wiltshire.

The first step was to conduct a feasibility study across a range of potential spaces, helping Bechtle understand its requirements and identify the right premises. Kerr also used its commercial property network to support Bechtle with negotiating and completing the lease for its new 21,000 sq ft premises in Chippenham.

Bechtle wanted the new workplace to reflect its “Zukunftsstark” vision — being connected, experienced and entrepreneurial — while providing employees with an upgraded environment that rewarded their hard work and supported the company’s ambitious growth plans.

The approach

Kerr developed a flexible, people-focused design that combined functionality with an inspiring environment for both employees and customers.

At the heart of the workplace is a double-height social hub, featuring premium kitchen facilities, a bespoke coffee bar and comfortable soft furnishings. This provides employees with a dedicated space to step away from their desks, socialise and recharge.

The design also introduced an activity-based working environment with soundproof meeting booths, huddle zones and versatile training spaces equipped with state-of-the-art AV technology. These spaces give employees greater choice in how they work, collaborate and communicate.

The fit-out was carefully designed to complement the original Gensler-designed building, combining industrial and natural materials with elements of biophilic design. These natural elements also provided a subtle way to bring Bechtle’s brand identity into the workplace.

The impact

Completed in just 10 weeks, the new headquarters provides Bechtle with a technology and wellbeing-focused workplace designed to support its people and future growth.

The combination of collaborative areas, social spaces, flexible meeting environments and advanced training facilities creates a workplace that is both functional and inspiring.

By placing people at the centre of the design, the new HQ provides Bechtle with an environment capable of supporting its continued growth while reflecting its connected, experienced and entrepreneurial values.
