Office design trends come and go but what does not change is the impact of environment design on the health and wellbeing of your employees. The great thing is, making your office a more productive, creative and enjoyable space for everyone to work in needn’t cost the earth. A mere lick of paint on the walls could end up being totally transformational – but the question is: what colour?

If you find paint charts somewhat overwhelming, you’re not alone. So, why not be à la mode by embracing a soft, warming shade hailed to be 2019’s Colour of the Year?

Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has declared what it thinks will be the hottest hue for the following year. For 2019, that hue is Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral – or Living Coral to you and me.

A Forbes article (where you can check out the shade in all its glory) cites Pantone as calling Living Coral “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge.” Sounds good to us.

“It’s a colour we see in nature,” acknowledged Pantone’s vice president, Laurie Pressman. “Lying at the centre of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, it is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of nature’s colour and serves as a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life.”

The shade, and the real, living coral it’s based on, is said to have connotations with spirit, sociability and lighthearted activity – something you might be keen to facilitate within your workspace. It also “embodies our desire for playful expression” and displays “humanising and heartening qualities, embracing us with warmth.”

87% of workers want their current employer to offer healthier workspace benefits, with options ranging from wellness rooms… sit-stands, healthy lunch options and ergonomic seating. We can help you put employee wellbeing at the heart of your business, get in touch with Kerr Office Group today.
